On the 100th anniversary of Venini, this book celebrates the excellence of Italian glass craftsmanship and the vases that made history.

From Venice to the world, this special book chronicles the prolific and original output of Venini, the art glass company founded 100 years ago in Murano, Venice, by the visionary genius of Paolo Venini and Giacomo Cappellin. For a century, Venini pursued the goal of innovation while maintaining tradition: the brand transformed the ancient art of glass making by “crossing” it with the modern visions of artists and designers. It gained international fame and became the obsession of collectors around the world. Venini's objects are present in private collections, as well as in museums and public institutions.

The book describes the evolution of Venini's taste, style and innovation, thanks to the images and stories of leading designers and art directors such as Paolo Venini, Carlo Scarpa, Gio Ponti, Gae Aulenti, Ettore Sottsass, Alessandro Mendini, Tadao Ando, and Ron Arad. The images include around 150 illustrations: glass photos, archival documents, original drawings and a photo session taken in the furnace itself. These images will allow readers to enter the beating heart of Venini's craftsmanship and observe all the stages of glass making.
